When you're planning on doing some renovations, especially if you're doing them yourself, it's important to have a solid plan and work schedule so that you don't do what we did. By ‘what we did’ I mean ostensibly nothing for the last few months.
Our work plan:
1. Work really hard for 3 weeks.
2. Celebrate hard work with four months rest.
It dawned on the Mander and I that if this bad boy was ever going to get done, then we'd probably have to start working on it again. Seeing as it's nearly June and all, we figured now was as good a time as any.
We'd done some debating over the last several months about what to do about the ceiling. It was heavily popcorned, and even after trying our best to rectify that problem - a texture still remains. The idea (in case you've forgotten) is to go for a pretty modern look down there, so the textured ceiling thing is a little less than desirable. We finally agreed after much houzzing (http://www.houzz.com/) that we would rip out the ceiling and paint the rafters black. Then, over the pool table we thought we’d drop a diamond of drop ceiling using the tiles that look like pressed tin. Anyhow, here’s a few pics of the ceiling tear down.
